Wilderness Reflections is a distinctive Kansas City gift store specializing in wildlife and and American Indian gifts and jewelry. The concept for a wildlife gift store was conceived while we were on vacation to scenic areas of Colorado and Utah in April and early May of 1999. We opened our store in July of 1999 in the historic Westport district of Kansas City, Missouri. Our original store was known as Wilderness Reflections Gallery. It carried a beautiful array of wildlife art and collectibles, and occupied a modest 640 sq.ft.

After 18 months of slow business, an opportunity came for us to move to a higher traffic area within the Crown Center Shops (home of Hallmark Cards) about 2 miles away. We packed up our merchandise and in January of 2001 moved Wilderness Reflections Gallery to a store of comparable size on the first floor of Crown Center.

The spot we moved into at Crown Center had previously been occupied by the American Indian Store. Since the American Indian Store had been in Crown Center for many years, we wanted to try to continue to cater to its clientele. We believed that American Indian merchandise would fit well with wildlife gifts, so we added Indian gifts and jewelry to our product lines. This decision proved to be a wise one, as our Indian product lines did extremely well.

In the spring of 2003, we learned that a nature store on the third floor of Crown Center would be closing. We had the opportunity to "move up in the world" into a space nearly three times that of our first floor location. With the departure of the nature store, and with additional floor space to expand, we brought in children's plush animals, science and nature toys, and an extensive selection of minerals and fossils from around the world.

Our goal is to provide top quality wildlife, American Indian, and nature gifts at reasonable prices. We also hope to work in more time to develop our website so more of what is available in the store can be purchased online.
